Aashutosh Mistry

Assistant Professor, Mechanical Engineering

Aashutosh Mistry Prof. Mistry engineers the next generation of energy technologies. While many new materials and chemicals have been discovered that can, in principle, enable an array of new energy technologies like batteries flying Boeing jumbo jets, production of hydrogen and chlorine from seawater, electricity generation from atmospheric oxygen, etc., to date, none of these are commercial realities. Prof. Mistry is an experimental theorist focused on understanding this disconnect between new interesting materials and useful devices to engineer such technologies at scale. To this end, his group synergistically combines physics-based theory, controlled experiments, and data-driven analysis across molecular and continuum scales.
