Headshot of Dr. Jim Wong outdoorsPrior to joining Mines ME, Jim Wong spent nine years as an adjunct instructor in Mines EPICS Engineering Design and Society (EDNS), Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (MME) and ME Departments. Jim is a Mines alum with a B.S. and M.S. in MME (‘92 and ‘01, respectively). Jim’s industrial experience is R&D and manufacturing support, ultimately leading him to John Deere’s Applied Mechanics department where he focused on component fatigue and reliability. Other areas of research include industry/academic collaborations addressing: simulation of weld and casting solidification, ultra-high cycle fatigue testing, and measuring thermo-mechanical properties of iron.
