Polina B. Ringler

Teaching Assistant Professor, Mechanical Engineering

Polina BrodskyPolina B. Ringler comes to Mines from The Ohio State University (OSU), where she received all three of her degrees in Mechanical Engineering. Her research is in modeling and characterizing the behavior of Li-ion batteries due to fast charging conditions for automotive applications using techniques in electrochemistry and system modeling. For many years during her undergraduate and graduate school careers, she was a team leader and technical expert on the Buckeye Current Electric Motorcycle Race Team at OSU’s Center for Automotive Research and was able to compete in motorcycle racing events all over the world. She held internship positions at Honda R&D Americas, Tesla Motors, Ford Motor Company and Apple, Inc. While completing her PhD, Polina was instructor of record for Heat Transfer for two semesters. She is passionate about experiential learning and helping students become excellent engineers, and she is excited for the opportunity to explore new courses to teach at Mines.

In her free time, Polina enjoys hiking, traveling, reading, kayaking, and cheering on the OSU football team. She is also an avid gardener and house plant enthusiast. After spending most of her life in the Midwest, Polina is looking forward to taking advantage of all the outdoor activities Colorado has to offer.
