Carl Frick
Professor, Mechanical Engineering
Dean of Graduate Studies
Carl Frick currently serves as the Dean of Graduate Studies. He joined Colorado School of Mines in 2021 as Department Head of Mechanical Engineering. Carl received his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Colorado at Boulder, and was a post-doctoral researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Metals Research in Stuttgart, Germany. Prior to joining Mines, Carl was the Department Head of Mechanical Engineering at University of Wyoming, where he had been on the faculty since 2008. Carl was also Senior Advisor and Co-Founder of Impressio Tech, which is focused on developing liquid crystal elastomers for biomedical and safety applications.
Carl’s research activities involve integration of materials science and mechanical engineering, to characterize materials for use in emerging technologies.
