Brian Donovan

Teaching Assistant Professor, Mechanical Engineering

Dr. Brian Donovan is a polymer scientist specializing in advanced and additive manufacturing.  He has a PhD in Polymer Science and Engineering from the University of Southern Mississippi and completed an NRC Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Air Force Research Laboratory prior to joining the University of Colorado Boulder as a Senior Research Associate. His research there included using light to prepare functional and responsive films for advanced optical and mechanical applications.  Brian’s interest in developing applied polymer solutions led him to Carbon 3D — an additive manufacturing company located in the San Francisco Bay Area — as a Senior Research Scientist where he developed high-performance AM resins for use in automotive, padding, and dental applications.

Brian returned to Colorado in December 2021 to continue the pursuit of his passions in applied research and education and his love of the outdoors. He joined Mines Mechanical Engineering in August 2022.
