Mechanical Engineering senior Jules Brown was named a 2020-21 Humanitarian Engineering (HE) Shultz Scholar. Brown is currently minoring in Engineering for Community Development, one of Mines’ many unique programs in Humanitarian Engineering, and was awarded the scholarship in recognition for her commitment to using engineering to help address society’s greatest challenges.

The scholarship is funded by the Shultz Family Leadership in Humanitarian Engineering Fund. Brown will receive approximately $8,500 per semester – equivalent to the cost of one semester of in-state tuition and fees – typically for one year.

Throughout her tenure as a Shultz Scholar, Brown will serve as a program ambassador, representing the HE program at campus events and conferences, and is expected to seek out new opportunities for collaboration with faculty, alumni, corporations and non-governmental organizations.
