ME Associate Professor Joy Gockel was recognized as part of the 2022 class of America Makes Ambassadors at the 2022 Members Meeting and Exchange in August.

America Makes is the national additive manufacturing innovation institute. The Ambassador Program, launched in 2017, recognizes individuals who have continually demonstrated outstanding dedication to advancing America Makes and its mission. With the Additive Manufacturing industry’s thrust into the spotlight this year with US President Biden’s Additive Manufacturing initiative, the 2022 class represents a cross-section of the industry whose work helped further advance Additive Manufacturing technology and showed the resilience of the AM community. It also represents the advances made in AM technology, ecosystem and workforce development.

Dr. Gockel was recognized for contributions to the America Makes technical roadmap, beginning with participation in the first road mapping workshops in 2013, current leadership of the materials working group and as a member of the roadmap advisory group, as well as contributions to education and workforce development initiatives.
