In the midst of COVID-19, Mechanical Engineering Assistant Professor Jeff Ackerman developed an ecofriendly face shield made out of recycled plastic in an effort to help reduce PPE waste collecting in landfills. While his design is functionally equivalent to current face shields on the market, complete with an anti-fog coating that can easily be cleaned and reused, it is simplified from several components down to one.
